We’ve been talking to NHS Choices about sharing some of their information and putting it onto the new website. Analysis into the things you’re searching for on the website shows that some people visit the council website to find out about health-related information.
This could be, for example, where to register at your local GP clinic, how to contact your dentist or how to get to your nearest hospital.
NHS choices can allow us to feed data straight onto the new website, giving information to all the above and more.
So, as an example, if you go to the ‘Find my nearest’ section of the website, you will be able to see, quickly and easily, on a map, where GP surgeries are in relation to your post code.
We’re interested to hear what you think. Would this be useful in providing an all-round view of your area? Or should a council website stick to council matters only?

With the changes proposed to public health by the new Govt, there will be greater integration between Councils and Health bodies. I think that putting health information on the Medway site now will pave the way for this important shift in policy and help to shape our thinking about this new way of working.

Thanks for your comments Zoe. You’ll see there’s a new menu item called ‘health and social care’ on the beta site which should help users to find out about health services available to them in Medway too.

I think the website should stick to council matters only, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t signpost the way to health information online
